Little Food Pantries

If you would like to assist with getting groceries or helping bring them into the parish hall,  please let Theresa or Gloria know! If you are interested in donating food, we would like to offer you some helpful hints.

1.  Aldi provides excellent quality foods at significantly lower prices.  We recently shopped for items to restock our shelves using cash donations.  We spent $396 at Aldi.  After our shopping trip Gloria Bryant did some comparison shopping at Tops without purchasing the actual foods.  The price total for the same food items and number of items totalled $531.  Doing the math, you will see that by shopping at Aldi, we were able to save $135!

2.  To make your shopping easier, please do not feel that you absolutely need to create a mixed bag of items.  If it is easier for you to just grab multiple boxes or cans of one food type, that is fine.  We always need everything!  Since we fill six 716 Little Food Pantries in the Lockport area, mulitple items are removed from our shelves quickly.  The only exceptions to this would be foods that we prefer to place in pairs such as peanut butter & jelly, pancake mix & syrup or pasta & sauce.

3.  If shopping or carrying groceries is too troublesome for you but you would still like to donate, you can make a cash donation by dropping an envelope into the collection plate or mailing a check to the church, labeled ‘Outreach’.

May God bless each of you for your support to our ongoing mission to feed hungry people in our community!

Did you know that our Food Drives are getting positive attention for Christ Church?  People from the community see the food drive on our sign and stop with donations.  People think of Christ Church when they have something they would like to donate.  We get calls from people with clothing or household items when they want the items to be free for the next owner.

We still need more hearty hot meals.  We especially need protein (canned meat meal, or hearty soups, tuna, canned chicken, peanut butter and jelly for school lunches, spaghetti sauce, etc.) and ingredients for the meals we all turn to at this time of the year.

Our warm-up for the Winter project is back in gear for the Fall & Winter seasons.  We will be delivering warm socks, hats, mittens and gloves to the staff from the Agri-Center in Newfane and local schools to be distributed to people/children in need.  A sincere thank you to everyone who is knitting, crocheting, sewing and purchasing items for this yearly event.

The generosity of the members of Christ Church is heartwarming.  As we all remember, Jesus told us that whatever we do for others, we do for him.  We think he is well pleased.  May God bless each and every one of you and may you continue to be blessed the whole year through.

If you are able to help with these drives, please contact the church office and they will direct you to Gloria Bryant or Theresa McCabe.  Thank you!!
